Charlotte Doyle Discussion 5

Hello Miss . Charlotte Doyle! My name is Peggy Kern, a sixth grader who has read your book! I must say that it was truly fascinating! One of the best books that I have ever read! The reason that I think it was one of the best books that I have ever read is because it just has so very much adventure! Its shocking, and I love it! I have learnt so much from your book! One of the many things that I have learnt is that you can't judge a person if they seem kind or polite (in your case polite). I have learnt that looks/acts can be deceiving and I won't judge people by how they look or act! I now have to think about how they treat others, their family, and other people too! I admire you in so many ways Ms . Doyle! I admire you for cutting your hair, ( page 171 ) I could never do that! I know it would take way too long to grow back, and I just wouldn't be willing to cut thirteen years of hair growth! I also admire you for standing up to Captain Jaggery, ( page 248 and 249 ) I would be too afraid and never even become a member of the crew, I would just stay little Charlotte and live my life to be a polite educated woman! I wouldn't stand up to Captain Jaggery because I am frightened of him! He is quite scary and Captain Jaggery may beat me up. Although I am sure that becoming a member of the crew would surely be more fascinating than being a rich educated woman.

If you don't mind Ms . Doyle, I would be truly honoured to ask you a few questions about yourself and your lifestyle! My first question is : The book that has now been published and titled "The True Confessions of Charlotte Doyle", well is that book your diary that your father told you to keep? The reason that I think it may be your diary is because everything is written into your point of view! So I'm just wondering if this isn't actually a book, but a diary! I know that your father has burnt it up, but it may be possible that you re-wrote it, and the re-written copy is the one that is quite famous! I love the way you think Ms . Doyle, about how you see things! Although sometimes I wonder how you could have been so very foolish as to trust Captain Jaggery.

Another one of my questions is : Why did you talk so nicely of your father? I'm asking you this question because in my opinion he isn't very nice. I recall you thinking of you saying how good and polite your father was. Somewhat like a "true gentleman". Although I do agree on what you said to Captain Jaggery! You said that Captain Jaggery and your father were very similar. I think that as well! They both seem polite, yet very harsh! Captain Jaggery was pretty harsh because he beat up Zachariah with no mercy whatsoever, and your father was very harsh by sending you up to your room to study for a long time! Many apologies come your way Ms . Doyle, you don't have to carry on reading this paragraph if it disturbs you. Since your father is part of your family this may come off a tad bit rude. I'm asking you this because when you went home, all he really did was demand for your "diary", burn it up, and be quite mean to you, locking you up to study, and not much more. Aren't fathers supposed to be very overjoyed that their daughter came home after so many months?

Ms . Doyle, I am very amused, amazed and just stunned by you! I would love to have you as a sister, I can just imagine it! We would be the greatest of friends! I would also love to work on a ship like you have! I love how you are so carefree! If I were you I wouldn't find it difficult to leave your family, I would join the crew without a moment of hesitation! Just like you have done! Charlotte you are an intelligent individual and I wish you all the best in life!

From your dearest fan,
~Peggy~
