Dear Eloise,
Hello! I am a sixth grader called Peggy Kern from the International School of Kuala Lumpur. I have read your first book in the series of The Tripods. I love this book, it was purely fascinating. I have also learnt many things from your book, for example, one of the things that I learnt was to face fears and be brave. Will learnt to be brave when he had an armpit surgery to remove a tracking device, but you do not know that Eloise, since you broke Will's heart and went to The Tripods. Beanpole was also very brave when he cut the tracking device out of Will, Beanpole was also brave when he took a leap of faith in Henry and Will and decided to join them in the long tough journey to The White Mountains. Henry, well, Henry was never brave but he still made the journey, right??? I admire you Eloise for being so kind to Will, and I admire you for winning the competition to become queen. But I do not think it is right for you to lead Will on and then just leave him. Will was in love with you Eloise, and I thought you were in love with him as well. I think that the choice you made ( deserting Will and serving The Tripods ) would be more interesting than your old plain boring life. ( Excuse my rudeness. ) Serving The Tripods could make you their favorite person, perhaps they could grant you with knowledge, or riches. But if you did stay behind with Will, you would have been happy together. You would also have been married, Will would have been capped, but at least he could have been 100% happy with you, but since you left him, sure, Will's overjoyed about The White Mountains, but not completely satisfied because you had left him.
Here is some information on what you have missed out on Eloise, since you have left Will to join The Tripods, Will has taken off to The White Mountains. The White Mountains is a land where nobody is capped, a land of free men. Will was originally going there, but he was held up by you and your family ( your Mother and Father, the Comte and the Comtesse. ) It was a kind gesture of you to offer Henry, Will and Beanpole a place to stay, but not kind of you to ignore/leave will just like.... well just meanly. So while Will was leaving he had been taken by a Tripod. I should let you know that Will is fine now, The Tripod did not cap him, but The Tripod merely put a tracking device inside Will's armpit. Now you would think that Henry, Will and Beanpole would have been capped but you are wrong. The Tripod died because Will killed it with a grenade, now that you know what has been happening let me continue on with my letter.
I have a question for you, if you don't mind, but how is your life now?
I would imagine that it isn't very nice, am I correct? I think this because The Tripods are mysterious yet tricky, you have probably been tricked into thinking that been queen would be luxurious, but perhaps you are treated as a slave. Perchance The Tripods were telling the truth, but why would a Tripod need to have a queen? They are the supreme rulers of the Earth, so no offence but why would they even need you? You are useless to them, they just want to take you away from Will so you won't somehow go to The White Mountains with him and remove your cap.
I know Will really does not want to be capped because he was thinking this : "Whatever privileges I was given, I would still be sheep among sheep. In the morning, I thought of it again. I rejected it again, too, firmly but less quickly, and with a feeling of being virtuous in doing so. To accept would be to let down the others- Henry and Beanpole, the Vagrant Ozzymandias, Captain Curtis, all the free men in the White Mountains. I would not do that: nothing would tempt me to.” (page 121)
Basically Will does want to stay with you and be capped, Will really does love you, he was even giving up his dream of being free for you, but you just turned him down, how cruel is that? I think you should go back to Will and apologize.
Sincerely from,
PEGGY KERN!!!!!

PART 2:
A character in this book who has changed tremendously is Henry. I remember at the beginning of the book Henry and Will were enemies. Will really didn't have much friends besides Jack ( Henry and Will's other cousin ) but Jack got capped later on. Will was leaving his town ( Wherton ) but Henry had followed. Henry first was nasty to Will, but Will had broken his ankle so Henry decided to become kind to him. Henry even carries Will back to a place to rest. If I had an enemy I do not know if I could forgive them that easily. Because you would have to turn a new page, forget everything bad that has happened between you two, and move on. It would be difficult, but at least you could become friends. I wonder how Henry and Will become so hateful of each other, it probably started when they were about two or three, maybe somebody poked one another and then, the fights began! Henry was lovely to Will untill the two boys met Beanpole. When that happened Henry began to be jealous and shelfish so he decided to be nasty to Will and keep Beanpole all to himself. At the end of the book Henry turns out to be nice to Will, so Henry has changed from nasty to kind to evil to nice.
